Italy’s national visa form has no printed photo requirement of its own

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s free National (D) visa application form carries only a blank box labelled “FOTOGRAFIA” for the applicant to attach a photograph [4]; the form prints no accompanying size, background, or format instruction next to that box. The figures shown on this page come from the Consulate General of Italy in New York’s own published Schengen and National visa checklists [1], not from the national form itself or from the Ministry’s central visa portal.

The Digital Nomad / Remote Worker visa’s own page states a different figure

The same consulate’s Digital Nomad / Remote Worker visa page — covering the same National (D) paper application form used by other long-stay categories — states a different photo size, listed separately under “Also specified,” along with its own colour and glue-to-form instructions [2]. This page does not average or choose between the two consulate figures; both are shown as the consulate itself wrote them.

Applying through an outsourced visa centre does not change who sets the requirement

Some jurisdictions route Italian visa appointments through an external visa application centre rather than the consulate itself — the UK jurisdiction’s own consulate page states that appointments are handled exclusively through VFS Global [5]. Such a centre runs the appointment; it is not the authority that sets the photo requirement, and this page follows the consulate’s own published checklist rather than a visa centre’s own pages.

No pixel, file-size, or format figure is published because the photo is collected in person

Schengen visa applicants must appear in person to provide biometric data, and the photo can be captured digitally at the appointment or scanned from a recent print if it conforms to ICAO standards [6]; other Italian missions describe the same requirement as fingerprints and a photo collected alongside biometric data [7]. This in-person, paper-based process is why no consulate page found states a pixel, digital file-size, or image-format requirement of its own.
