Privacy Policy
In one line — no accounts, no advertising, no tracking analytics. This page sets out exactly how.
Overview
This policy sets out what visaphoto.org does — and does not — do with data connected to your visit, and covers every place on the site where data could conceivably move: your browser’s local storage, the fonts and scripts a page loads, our hosting infrastructure, and the outside links our sources point to.
What we do not do
We do not ask you to register or sign in, and no part of the site sits behind a login. We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or cross-site trackers of any kind. We do not operate an analytics platform — there is no visit counter, heatmap, or session-replay script anywhere on the site. Our content security policy only allows scripts to load from visaphoto.org itself, which rules out a third-party script running here without our knowledge. We do not sell or share data about you with anyone, because we do not collect any to begin with.
What your browser stores
Nothing. The site sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage or session storage — there is no account to remember and no preference we track. Small, self-contained scripts power the country search filter, the sortable comparison table, and the print button; none of them read or write any storage, and none of them contact a server.
Photos
The photo checker previewed elsewhere on this site is being built to run entirely in your browser. Once it ships, an image you use with it will be processed on your device and will not be uploaded anywhere; this page will be updated first if that design ever changes.
Fonts and other assets
Every font this site uses is hosted on our own server and delivered from visaphoto.org — none are pulled from Google Fonts or any other third party, so loading a page never sends a font request that could otherwise reveal which site you are visiting.
Hosting and server logs
This site is served by Cloudflare, our hosting and content-delivery provider. Delivering any page requires a server to receive the request, so Cloudflare’s network necessarily processes standard connection information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the URL requested — to route the page to you, and it may keep request logs for security and network-operations purposes on its own retention schedule. We have not added any logging, analytics, or tracking layer of our own on top of that infrastructure; the sentence above is the extent of it. Cloudflare acts as an independent provider for this processing, and its own privacy policy describes how it is handled. Because Cloudflare runs a global network, your request may be served from a data center outside your own country, as a normal part of how content-delivery networks operate.
Links to other sites
Every measurable value on a country page is sourced from an official government document, linked at the top of the page and again in its Sources section. Some of those links point to a snapshot on the Internet Archive’s web.archive.org, kept so the exact page we relied on stays retrievable even if the original moves or changes. These links open in a new tab with rel="noopener", so the destination cannot reach back into this tab — but once you follow one, that site’s own privacy practices apply. We do not control, and are not responsible for, how a government site or the Internet Archive handles your visit.
Your rights
Because this site does not maintain accounts, does not track you across visits, and does not ask you to submit personal information to use it, there is very little personal data connected to you for us to hold. Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws may still give you rights over any personal data we do hold — for example, to ask what we have, or to have it corrected or deleted. In practice, the only personal data likely to reach us is what you choose to put in an email, so the way to exercise any of these rights is to contact us at the address below.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age. If you believe a child has sent us information through our contact address, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
This page carries the date it was last updated. If we ever change what the site collects or how it is hosted, we will update this page and note the change on the home page.
