Two eVisa application types, two different backgrounds

The paper Visa Application Form is a separate document from the eVisa upload

Applying in person or through a Malaysian embassy or high commission abroad uses the national paper Visa Application Form, which prints its own photo size inside a photo box on the form itself [3]. This is a distinct document from the eVisa/eVDR portal’s own upload requirements, published separately by Immigration [1][3].

A small set of paper categories ask only for a photo count

Immigration’s own checklist for Visa With Reference categories submitted at an embassy — covering cases such as the spouse of a Malaysian citizen — lists only a required number of recent photographs for each category, without stating a size, background colour, or other photo specification on that checklist page [2].

The eVisa document checklist expects a studio photograph

The Visa Without Reference (VTR) application’s own list of required documents describes the uploaded photo as a passport sized studio photo, alongside the passport biodata page and other travel documents [1].
